Tap “Open” on the left toolbar to choose from your photo library. Tap “Files” to import images, PDFs, PSDs, RAW files, or LUMISELA Photo documents. Only the photos you select are made available to the app.

Use “Layered” in the left toolbar to export a .lumisela document. Use layered PSD for another editor, 16-bit TIFF for high-quality output, or PNG/JPEG for a flattened result.

PSD import and export preserve pixel layers, groups, layer masks, clipping, visibility, opacity, compatible blend modes, and ICC profiles. LUMISELA Photo effects, adjustments, text, vectors, Live Strokes, and styles are rasterized to preserve their appearance. Adjustment layers affect the composite preview but are not exported as independent PSD adjustment layers. PSB, CMYK, 32-bit PSD, and Smart Objects are not supported.

LUMISELA Photo opens camera RAW formats supported by Apple’s system RAW engine. RAW and 16-bit PSD imports record source bit depth and ICC information while creating an editable preview. TIFF export is always 16-bit RGBA.

Use Add in the Paint panel to save the current brush settings. Material turns the selected image layer into a grayscale brush tip and extracts a representative color. Share one brush as .lbrush, or bundle brushes, sampled colors, a style, and an effect recipe in a LUMISELA Photo Pack (.lpack). Legacy .vbrush, .vpack, .ctbrush, and .ctpack files remain importable.

Choose Live in the Paint panel before drawing. The app stores path and pressure data in an editable Live Stroke layer. Later, change the size or brush and tap “Current Brush,” or choose a color and tap “Current Color,” to redraw the stroke without tracing it again.

Choose Effects in the Paint panel to paint lightening, darkening, saturation, warmth, cooling, blur, bloom, or pixelation exactly where needed. The result stays on a non-destructive effect layer whose type and intensity can be changed later.

Shapes and paths created as vector layers keep their fill, stroke, width, corner radius, side count, and anchors editable. Painting directly on a vector layer with Brush or Eraser converts it to pixel editing.

The current document is automatically saved on-device after changes and when the app moves to the background. Valid recovery data opens automatically at the next launch with layers, masks, adjustments, and editable effects intact. Export important work regularly with “Layered.”

Processing added with "Effects" is not directly burned into the original image. You can turn applied effects on/off, change their strength, or delete them later. If there is a selection range, that range is also preserved along with the effect.

An adjustment layer non-destructively corrects the composite below it. “Clip to Layer Below” limits a layer to the opaque pixels of the layer directly beneath it, which is useful for adding color or texture without spilling outside a subject.

Pinch with two fingers to zoom in or out, and twist with two fingers to rotate the display. Two-finger gestures are not recorded as brush lines.

Pressure is supported on compatible iPad and Apple Pencil models. Brush dynamics and presets determine whether pressure changes size, opacity, or both.

Yes. The Files picker accepts legacy .velora and .chromatrellis documents, plus pre-release .prisma files. Use .lumisela for new exports.

LUMISELA Photo requires iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. Very large images may be reduced during import to fit available device memory.
